Katonte Development Perspectives is a brand new Company. Having implemented only one project as a consulting organisation - a review of a Norwegian Peoples Aid programme in Rwanda from a political perspective - we do not actually employ anybody yet. Instead we are a collection of “like minded” and mostly highly experienced consultants with a shared desire to “do development differently”.

 

Above all we emphasise the need to understand local politics so that we can mitigate risks of technical advice missing the mark, and see this as the key route to ensuring that we support “demand-led development.” Too many “supply-driven” technical fixes have been delivered in development environments but without first understanding whether these can appeal to those who have the local power to affect change. Where they don’t, money tends to get wasted, and sometimes damage is done.
